Orange County Education Foundation Honors Deannne Marshall and Rod Hawkins

Deanne will receive the Friend of Education Award. This award recognizes an individual, business, or organization that has made an exceptional contribution to education in Orange County. Deanne started the Orange County Books and Beyond affiliate of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, which delivers a free book each month to the homes of children under five.
Rod Hawkins
Rod will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award. He is a retired teacher of 42 years and coach of football, wrestling, and track for 45 years, who currently serves as the District 1 School Board member.

The Orange County Education Foundation invites you to join us for the 2026 Celebration of Education Dinner on Friday, October 1, 2026 from 5-8pm at The Pavilion on Lakeland Farm, Orange VA.
This annual event brings together educators, alumni, business leaders, families, and community supporters to celebrate those whose dedication has strengthened education throughout Orange County while raising funds to support scholarships, teacher innovation grants, and educational opportunities for students. The Foundation’s mission is to support teachers and students through scholarships, grants, and community partnerships.
The Foundation is proud to recognize Deanne Marshall and Rod Hawkins for their outstanding service and lasting contributions to education in Orange County.
Guests will enjoy two special presentations that connect Orange County’s educational legacy with its future.
Mr. Rod Hawkins will present a look back at the history of education in Orange County, highlighting the people, schools, and milestones that have shaped generations of learners.
Dr. Dan Hornick, Superintendent of Orange County Public Schools, will share his vision for the future of education in Orange County, discussing opportunities, innovation, and the continued commitment to preparing every student for success.
